"Beautiful Memories (1/2)" (Santa Pola, Spain, 2022)
This artwork was created on high-quality paper along with other two pieces in the same style but in a different colour, during my holidays in Santa Pola, Alicante, Spain, after an unexpected breakup.
At the moment, it felt like it didn’t make any sense, because when you are in love, you are blind to what is very in front of you. Then, your brain understands everything as if someone was reading a book to you, loudly!
What I love the most in my art is that it always tells me a story that I don’t know yet, because it is in the unconscious and it needs time to come to the light of my logical eyes.
Here I was painting happiness and hope, but fighting to cheer me up by traveling and meeting the people that I love the most, my friends and family, while planning my next steps. So, I did this road trip between Marbella - Cordova - Granada - Alicante. Also, driving has always helped me to focus on my thoughts, and it relaxes me a lot.
My unconscious was telling me that it was glad that my situation had changed, that where I was, it wasn’t my place to stay, that I was suffocating, and that now we have something more suitable for us.
The year that followed from there was fantastic! One of my best years so far. But it couldn’t have happened without that previous break up.
“Long walks through your thoughts, long walks in old paths, lost but found” - I wrote behind this painting in the moment after making it.
